It was the year 1840 and a young Englishman walked among the hills of Fiesole. He fell in love with what was then only a ruined castle. He bought it and decided to bring that decadent place back as it was 800 years ago. John wanted to revive the romantic dream of the Middle Ages in the hills above Florence. This is a story of loves, hopes, dreams, marriages and legends. Love for Arts; for challenges; for beauty and , obviously, love between two lovers. Welcome to the Castle of Vincigliata!
This corner of the Middle Ages has amount 1000 years of history and was able to witness the Renaissance of Florence, which overlooks. The first stone of this castle was placed in 1031 by the Visdomini family. Many families followed, but the legend that lingers within its walls belong to Bianca di Usibaldi who had a love affair with a rival family. The ending was tragic and it is thought that since then she has been the protector of Vincigliata’s love stories. It took more than 10 years of passion and all the unique skills of the Florentine artisans to revive the fortunes of this amazing castle.
